just wanted to say sorry/explain myself for when i act like a crazy person...but i am a crazy person - always have been, its just been more accentuated that last few years as i poorly sift through lifes changes...seeing my son suffer is a huge part of it, the uncertainty of his future, the let down of people being ignorant and cold hearted about his needs, even people who claim to have a life marked by Love...if you have a heart, these pictures make you feel something, take that feeling, add to it that it never turns off as a parent, what you see in the pics is only part of his troubles, other kids and their stupid parents act like hes contagious, friends and family can't hack it and bow out, etc

this video explains an operation they want us to consider for Noah, my 5 year old with cerebral palsy...inshort, they cut his back open, pull a vertabre out, then pull out the nerves, test nerves to see which seem to cause the most spasticity, permanently cut those nerves, put them and bone back in...making these decisions kill me...then watching him suffer through is all with the uncertainty of "is this going to be worth it?"...the last few years have really been eating me alive

take a second and answer "what does it mean to be religious?, what is important to religious people?"........... i've been pretty frustrated with the whole christianity thing lately...which is a little more difficult to deal with seeing as how i am a christian...and i just might say somethings that i will regret later as i work through this and try to come out on the otherside with a better understanding of what i means to be a follower of Jesus...i just feel like the VAST majority of us are doing more harm than good...demonstrating more hate than love...judging more than caring...helping ourself way more than helping others... it seems that if Jesus were to give up his heavenly body again (whatever that means exactly) and come back here, that most of us would run home get our suit and tie on (don't forget the american flag lapel pin), say a quick prayer reminding him that you voted straight republican, turn on fox news and wait for him to be a guest on whoevers show is replacing glen beck........... back in the day the pharisees and sadducees were the super religious dudes that Jesus was always butting heads with...partly because they were super into keeping rules, telling others to keep the rules and just being super legalistic over all...i think Jesus was trying to show them that thier heart wasn't in it, they were just checking off a list to show how "good" they were...but they weren't actually acting out of devotion to God or thier fellow man...Jesus pointed that out, they got pissed and killed him...my point is, i feel like we behave more like pharisees and sadducees (judging people based on church attendance, how much cash they give back to God, who they kiss...yada yada......... anyhow, there is this idea in christianity that we are supposed to be Jesus' body...his hands, feet, etc. going out into the world doing the things that Jesus wants done...well, from my own experiences and yours too, i would imagine, i say we're doing a pisspoor job ( thats why the photoshop picture, Jesus face with an emaciated and decaying body)........... back to my question at the top...what is important to religious people?...based on our actions i'd say most people think its about keeping gay people from marrying, yelling about hell, consistantly going to a church building and giving people who don't the evil eye and on and on.... somewhere in the bible Jesus says something like "true religion is looking after orphans and widows" and "they will know you are my disciples if you love one another"...when is the last time you felt that in the prescence of a christian?...i hope its at least the next time i see you...if not, tell me to shape up

having a kid with special needs has to be one of the hardest things in life...this is noahs first day at "no i can" therapy...its 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for 3 weeks...they feel like one day he will be able to walk without any assistance...which we had never even dreamed of before these folks...its obviously really tough on him and its killing my wife and i...lets hope it pays off

How To: fix your model a tail light the cheap redneck way

so as my last post mentioned my light rattled loose and i lost 2 screws and the lense...with motomonday on the way, i didn't have time to order a new lense add to that the fact that i'm over spending money on this bike, and this is what you get... first find a red disposable plate in your wifes pantry, and use the gasket thingy to trace your "light"...then cut it out

take the screws out of a light switch, preferably somewhere the Mrs. won't notice

try the screws from the light switch, realize that they don't fit, say screw it, grab packaging and to justify it-tell yourself "hey tape won't rattle of, this is a good idea"

then go inside to put the kids to bed and have your boy throw up all over you, even on your chin fuzz, but not actually in your mouth cause that would be sick

i'm starting to think that all my bikes should have the word "redneck" in their name...last one was the "redneck racer"...maybe this should be should be the "redneck roadster"..."redneck rally-er" "redneck roamer"... ???

here are some shots, from my camera phone, the only 3 shots i took....we met at bradys, replaced some bolts and things on my bike that had rattled off...and put a new headlight on my bike also...my old one kept shorting out and was called in to question about sucking too much juice and since i broke the glass on it a few weeks back, i decided to give up on it...oh yeah and to replace it would be at least 100 bucks...then on the way back to the shop my lense from my tail light rattled off, luckily the cover and rubber gasket thing were hanging on by one screw that was only half way rattled loose

oh yeah, so we met at bradys, then to model A cafe which was packed, left there to jeff deckers little restaurant and then back to bradys...we even loaded up my bike and i got to bring it home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i do have a picture of it broke down, but i was too pissed to think of using the flash...and its not worth taking the time to load it to the computer...it broke down after riding it for about 3 hours, totally thought i was good to go, then a few miles from home and after a fresh gas up, @#%$@^^%$...couple days later i thought i had it fixed, venting issue, then it died just as i was leaving my neighborhood, at least i could walk it home and not have to get the truck...but that still wasn't enough to keep me from throwing my helmet at it, denting the tank twice and cracking my helmet, and kicking some crap in the garage...it was like my old hockey temper skateboarding days...so i did some figuring real quick and found i have, AT LEAST, $3,625 into it...if someone were to actually offer me that for this POS, it would be theirs... ...i'm thinking of repainting my tank to look like a lemon...

got to this abour 7pm yesterday...went pretty quick (that is nothing happen that made me throw a hissy fit)...had to take of exhaust, the foot pegs and it seemslike another thing or two, in order to get to the alternator...anyways, it kicked over like 4th try, i remembered to turn the gas on with the 2 or 3rd kick and even pulled the choke...rode down the rode and back and she stayed on...(sure was dark though, gotta get my headlight pointed at the ground more)...battery wasn't even on the charger for the last few days...so hopefully that means i'm good...gonna give it a test ride after work today with skater jay and bradlito

if my bike behaves over the next little while, i'd really like to do a ride somewheres, camp a night or something...just go out and be dudes

not only are my finger gestures evolving for the better, so is my attitude towards the break downs...well i still pitch a major fit and use words not found in the bible...but this time it only lasted for a few hours and not a few days...my wife even agreed that i am getting over it quicker :)...bradys pep talk really helped me get perspective (see comments of previous post)...anyways, my bike died on the way to motomonday, it was going to be my first time on this bike, my brothers first time on a bike and brad halls first one on a bike...and then my bike had to go and ruin things...i think it might be andy pangeas fault...he renamed the bike harpers heartbreaker and so far thats about all shes done...before that it was called "the cardinal" a tribute to my home state of virginia...but that name doesn't really fit with my pretty new tank and the SLC painted on it, another gift from andy...the heartbreaker is going to take on a new meaning soon, breaking hearts of those who don't have a bike with craftmanship from pangea speed and two wheeled freedom machice co. !!!!!! new alternator ordered 20 mins ago, look for us on the streets (and elsewhere) soon, and prepare yer heart

went to pick it up today and it died again...at least i somewhat censored my bird this time...i'm starting to think that chopping up old bikes is not all its cracked up to be...if you're not a mechanic or rich, or if you have other resposibilities other than you bike, then i'd say buy one already done or get a sportster and throw some bolt on stuff on an call it good...another thing is never give your bike a deadline/due date...this bike has seriously had like 15...this bike has me so pissed that my only options are to stick it out untill she is running like a champ or get her running good enough for me to ghost ride her off a cliff...i'm leaning more toward the first option, because for those 20 minutes she was running AMAZING!, thanks to Brady at TwoWheeledFreedomMachineCo.

dropped my bike off at Two Wheeled Freedom Machine Company in spanish fork and i couldn't be more happy...here is the text i got from him after he had the bike for like 24 hrs..."...just wanted to update you on your bike, i've been working on it all day and finally got the fairing from the ultra classic mounted on your xs! Looks freakin sick! I also mounted the hard bags and painted it to match the great dale earnhart number 3! So start growing your mustache, you are going to be a lady ruler on this cycocycle."... i wasn't smart , and forgot to bring my camera when i went by the shop...i was too anxious to run it down there...you all will see me on the road soon!!! (although, i'm having him cross out the number 3 and paint "shake and bake" on there instead.

my relationship with my xs is very love hate...here is one pic of me loving it and one pic of me hating it, about 10 mins after my loving it shot...i love riding it, i hate working on it...maybe if i was able to spend as much time riding it as i did working on it or paying to have it worked on...so far my freedom machine has been more like a ball and chain, with me having to work extra to pay for it to get worked on, or spending too long stabbing in the dark (working on it myself) and missing all that time with the fam...grrr, i'm getting super frustrated....but man, those 2 hours it was running was SO fun

pray that i get this thing working right for this coming moto monday...and if that doesn't work, then pray that its ready for the salt flat social...p.s to my wife...i know you would've prefered that i censor my bird, i was just to lazy to get that creative

so i try to not be so judgmental, but this guy bugged me on my commute to work this morning, maybe it was because i was driving to work on a saturday morning and maybe it was because he had a bike that he could drive on the freeway and i don't...part of it was definitely his tuck and over-exaggerated-look-how-much-i'm-gunning-it-throttle arm, going 85 for 2 minutes in the fast lane then 65 in the far right lane for 5 minutes; repeat...i'm all for having a good time on your bike, getting extreme, yada yada....but i feel (self-righteously) that i have the ability to tell who is just young at heart having a good time and who is a male nurse out to prove something... i don't know what his bike was, but it looks like a sportbike ninja thing with forward controls...not surprisingly he exited at the lindon harley davidson exit, but not before he down shifted twice, and used that over-exaggerated throttle arm to sportbike down the exit ramp...with love, judgmental me

so here is the start to my bratstyle 650...bought it off ebay from a guy in clearfield area last year, sat in the shed untill just a few days ago...so far i'm pulling the wiring (miles of wire), cutting stuff off, changes the wheels to an 18in rear and still a 19 in front but they are from an old tx yamaha or something and have those different walls (can't remember what they're called now) and i put the honda rebel shocks on...i'm planning on this build taking THREE YEARS, so i won't be too bummed when it actually takes me 2.5years...there is a DIY bratstyle seat kit that i plan on buying, tacking into place and having pangea speed finishwelding for me...that is if he doesn't mind working around my horrible welding (lack of) skills...if you didn't already know, andy carter of pangea speed is the man!

so here i am all excited to go get my redneck racer inspected and what not, and finally be on my way to having a legal bike, complete with license plate and all...turns out places were closed for mothers day...so i went on a fun solo ride around south jordan anyways...its been raining everyday since and i've also picked up another job at the specialty hospital in provo, so who knows when i'll end up with time go get legalized...maybe the next weekend or two

no not the xs650:( ...but the redneck racer has be reborn...just had to get a new battery for it...went to batterys plus a few weeks ago, got an education on batteries and picked up a "battery tender"...which is supposed to be way better than the trickle charger i have...you can leave the tender hooked up to the bike all winter for example and it will turn itself on and off as needed...the charger will either stay on and fry the battery or turn off when its charged and never turn back on

now all i need to do is get the massive oil leak fixed, register it and get a utah motorcycle liscence :)

so i've been playing around with painting lace a bit lately...i bought lace from walmart and used rattle cans...any extra money i have is going to get that freaking xs650 done, so theres no way i'm spending money on fancy paint or painting tools...just not a priority compared to the xs this is the tank on the redneck racer...pretty happy with how it turned out

this was my first attempt at a lace job...its on the helmet that i got with the xs a few years ago...this didn't turn out as good as i'd like...but its not worth redo-ing it, plus i like the DIY/rat look...partly out of neccesity

don't think i ever posted this...its my bike loaded up to take over to pangea speed, its been like 2 months...hopefully she'll be running soon...

went for a ride the other day with my neighbor nick...sticking to the backroads cause i'm still not liscensed or registered :)....she is definately just a cafe racer wanna be cause she gets mad at me when i make her go 55, and 65 is the most i feel not safe to go before she wants to rattle apart...anyway, we pulled over to talk about her tantrums at 65...and then she didn't want start up again...nick rode home and grabbed my truck...good neighbor...i think redneck needs a battery...we'll see...probably won't spend money on her though untill i'm all paid up with andy on my xs650

i officially gave up on finishing my xs 650...i loaded her up and took her down to Andy at Pangea Speed...it was just taking me too long and the more i hung around the moto monday guys and saw thier ride, the more i worried my work would fall apart and die a road rashy death.

i think i might stick to more cosmetic "customizing" and turn my old honda into a cafe racer type thingy, so my none bike having friends can come out to herriman and ride with me...if thats you, lets go!!...(when my bike is done)

i can't wait to get my bike up and running...i felt real homo jumping in my car and following these guys on thier bikes...but hey, they were headed my way...living in herriman, they rode halfway to my house

i love this picture...this will be me someday, a running bike and buddies to ride with:)...not too much to report...christmas was cool...could have used some more bike money though ;)...the bike plan now is to save up some cash, take it to pangea speed and have andy do the stuff thats over my head and check my work to make sure my shoddy engineering won't rattle lose and kill me...eventhough its winter, its still killing me to not have that thing running yet!

here is a pic taken from www.pangeaspeed.com . i think about 10 or so guys showed up, and about 7 of them rode bikes. 24 degress! i froze just standing there while andy kickstarted his bike. i think those of us that drive our cars there should have to buy food for the guys that actually rode there. if you missed it you should definately mark your calendar for january, everyone is super cool and have a ton of knowledge, which is great for guys like me who don't know anyone or anything :) this spring is going to be insane!!

so i swapped out the front tire...i had the 19in shoulder rim on, now its the 19in regular rim...some guys on bobbertalk.com thought a 21in would look good on here...i swapped the shoulderrim out to see if it looked bigger, and it does...i like both looks on bike-big front and small back or similar sizes on both...so i figured that since my next bike is gonna be 18 rear 19 front, that i would go ahead and put a 21 on this bike...then i get both looks :) ...ordered the wheel today, off an old honda cr125...same axle size, so all i have to do is make a spacer...don't have to worry about figuring out the front brake since i'm not running one on this bike anyway

this is about what she looked like when i picked her up from st george a little over a year ago.

i just like this pic for some reason, this was the day i brought my bike out of my little shed and over to my father in laws (that snow it from last winter). he has all the tools and i have nada. he is working on a vw bug rat rod, i'll have to put some pics up later.

this is not too long after it got to my inlaws...we used the front fender for the rear, made the fender struts from some hollow round bar scrap i got from metal mart and got the back half of the exhaust done at some exhaust shop in draper...that tank and bars have been been swapped out

this was taken a month or so ago, i was bumming about it being almost a year and still not done with the bike, so i got her out and fred flinstoned around the drive way for a bit...you can see the different tank, some small mustang tank off ebay...and the new z bars, another ebay score...and also the 70's blazer hub caps i cut up to cover the ugly mag wheel

this is the most recent pic...took the rear wheel off so i could cut off a chunk of the axle plate, so that i could hide that honkin caliper a bit...and i changed my mind about the green, might have someone pinstripe it like it is...who knows...
